Corruption in Football – Incidents in FIFA & UEFA

FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association, and UEFA stands for Union of European Football Associations. There is corruption in English football at this level. Both of these associations are multi-million dollar organizations that are responsible for organizing tournaments and championships of football across the globe. Since they have the upper hand in football, corruption in football can be seen here. FIFA has always been in the news, and sometimes for the wrong reasons as well. In 2010, FIFA decided to give the hosting rights of the next two world cups to Russia and Qatar, respectively. England looks at that as Fifa corruption since they lost the bid of hosting. UEFA is also not far from the whirlpool of corruption. These cases are called Uefa corruption. Michel Platini, who was once the president of UEFA, was also cited among corruption in football examples since he was accused of getting a disloyal payment. His successor, Blatter, was also caught in this. Both of them were debarred from the association for a period of nine years. This period was later reduced to six years.
